Whitehouse projected as winner...

If so, we lose a huge wildlife champion in Lincoln Chafee. But, look forward in working with at least one Whitehouse.

This is a tough one to take in a lot of ways. His first week in the Senate Lincoln Chafee was in an elevator with Alaska Senator Frank Murkowski and basically picked a fight with him over Arctic drilling. He later became the first Republican Senator I'm aware of to hike and camp overnight in the Arctic. He is as commited a conservationist as there is. He was also the biggest reason that Environment Committee Chairman Jim Inhofe wasn't able to pass much of his anti-environmental agenda through. It may now take the Dems gaining a majority and Inhofe losing his gavel to keep him in check now. - Adam Kolton
